Why Catharsis Isn’t Enough for Transformation [Solo]

Transformation is more than feeling good -- it is a perpetual process of evolution, expansion and integration. It is an opportunity to become MORE yourSelf

Have you ever pondered the difference between ‘catharsis’ and ‘transformation’? If you are curious about it, then this solo episode of the Boundless LeaderSelf® podcast is for you.

Let’s explore the differences, briefly:

Seekers are people who:

  • Are in the perpetual search for something different. The focus on going to retreats and finding new tools to help them feel good when they’re feeling not-good.

  • Look for stuff outside of themselves to make them feel better – they are looking for the answers out there, hoping that those who know better will help give their life meaning.

  • Repeat the cycle of feeling bad - seeking to feel good - feeling good - back to feeling bad. In other words, despite what they do, they live more or less the same way, from habit, history and familiarity.  (Now that I wrote that, it feels kinda like a cycle of abuse … interesting.)

  • Never touch the deep stuff that lives in the basement. In fact, they hope to avoid, at all costs, ever going there. Hopefully if they avoid it well enough, it will never surface …

Allas, the stuff that lives in the basement runs the show of our lives.

It is not easy to break habits – it takes mindful and intentional Presence, moment to moment.

So, if you’re a seeker who is willing to find, you are the right candidate for lasting transformation.

  • Why? Because you are looking not just to feel good, but to discover how to implement a process that leads to evolution. In other words, you are not satisfied with what ‘is’ but are seeking to implement what you discover.

  • You understand and viscerally grok the layered nature of evolution and do not seek “a final destination” . You know, this is about your life

  • You find safety in telling yourself the truth of your experience. You do that by going deeply, slowing down, feeling what’s really there with compassion for yourself.

Are you ready to discover the process that invites and allows transformation to become a process that is a way of life? Are you ready to explore the transformative process of how evolution happens?

“To change our language from ‘counselling/therapy’ to ‘coaching’ is not enough to make the difference that so many of us desperately seek. We must also change our own thoughts…our own energetic frameworks… within which we hold our definition of WHAT a human being is, for how we define WHAT we are will determine HOW we engage ourselves and each other.” - Louise LeBrun
